What is Shakti

In Sanskrit, “Shakti” means divine feminine energy, which inspired Shaktaa’s name. Our retreats, rituals, and products are inspired by traditional Vedic and Himalayan traditions that empower women with this energy, both on and off the mat.

WHAT SHAKTAA OFFERS

Three pathways.

Into Your Sacred Self

Every Himalayan wellness retreat we host is small, intentional, and rooted in ritual — a yoga retreat in Rishikesh designed to help you slow down and return to yourself.

01 - COMMUNITY

Shaktaa Retreats

The women’s retreat in Rishikesh at Shaktaa brings together yoga, meditation, and sacred rituals along the Ganga in an intimate gathering for women. Whether it’s your first retreat or you’ve joined many before, our circles are created for rest, reflection, and genuine connection. This is a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and experience the warmth of sisterhood.

02 - SACRED PRODCUT

The Devi Edit

The Devi Edit is Shaktaa’s line of ritual crystal kits — Rose Quartz, Moonstone, and Black Tourmaline — each paired with intentions and practices inspired by our retreats and moon circles. Created to bring sacred ritual into everyday life, these crystals offer a simple way to continue your practice at home, between retreats, and during personal moments of reflection.

03 - SOUND HEALING

Pranaum

Pranaum is Shaktaa’s Himalayan sound healing offering in Rishikesh, using singing bowls, gongs, and guided breathwork to create space for deep rest and stillness. Sessions are held in small groups so every woman feels supported, grounded, and fully present. Experience Pranaum during a Shaktaa retreat or as an individual sound healing session for deeper relaxation.

THE WOMEN BEHIND SHAKTAA

I didn't build Shaktaa because I had all the answers.

I built it because I was seeking — and I knew I wasn't the only one. I am a woman from Dehradun, rooted in the shadow of the Himalayas, drawn toward something ancient that I could not yet name.

Shaktaa is that answer. It is a space where Vedic wisdom meets the modern woman who is tired of being disconnected from herself — her intuition, her cycles, her power.

Every product is chosen with intention. Every ritual is rooted in tradition. Every woman who finds this space is already home.

A path back to the divine feminine goddess within every woman who walks through Shaktaa's doors.

QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked

What is a women's retreat in Rishikesh, and who is it for?

A small group program in Rishikesh involving yoga practice, meditation and sisterhood oriented rituals. Suitable for any level, including both novices and experienced practitioners, with emphasis on self-development and bonding rather than skills. Suitable for women who prefer women-only programs instead of mixed retreats.

Yes, relatively safe destination for women travelers in India with lots of international yoga community and sober atmosphere throughout most of the areas. Regular safety precautions should be followed, including no solo walks late at night, prearranged prices with taxi drivers and staying in the Tapovan/Laxman Jhula area. Isolated cases have been reported but the overall picture is pretty much reassuring.

Casual loose clothing covering shoulders and knees in public spaces, particularly ashrams, temples and ghats. Take a scarf/shawl for temple visits and cooler mornings. It is recommended to take one warm piece even in hot weather.

For comfortable weather conditions: Late September - Mid November or Late March - Mid May. For more spiritually and meditation-oriented practices, most people tend to opt for the quieter winter months: December - February. Monsoon (July - September) is the off-season time but is still preferred by some people who like less crowds.

Flight landing at Jolly Grant Airport, 35 km away in Dehradun. There are domestic flights from Delhi and other big cities that land here. Traveling by bus from Delhi takes about 6-7 hours by road. Most retreats arrange for transportation once you book with them.

No – most of the retreats welcome complete beginners along with experienced practitioners. Teachers have to adapt to you and your practice, not vice versa.

The prices depend on group size, quality of accommodation and length of your stay, but the overall opinion is that Rishikesh is a relatively inexpensive place to do a retreat compared to western countries. Ashrams would be cheapest and luxury places - most expensive. There isn't any benchmark price across the industry – you'd need to check several places.
